We all have or had one friend or so where our parents just thought they were a bad influence, but a kind person overall. But, I do not think that many of us know what is the difference between a bad influence, bad friend, and a bad influential friend. It took alot of experience for me to understand which is which, but once you understand it, it makes the whole world and your heart much better.
Let's start with the bad influence. This includes a friend who smokes, drinks, etc., and someone that our parents just do not like. However, this person does not actually forces you to do all those things and has stuck with you over the years. Now, this friend can be a good friend if he or she does not harm you. Not only do they stick by your side, but expose you to the harsh world of drugs and sex. Yes, a bad influence can be a blessing in disguise.
The bad friend. Have you ever met someone and wish that you never met them in the first place? This is the person. The backstabber, gossiper, liar, etc., etc. But, this person can look picture perfect in front of our parents and have no criminal record. Even though this so-called friend does not show you or expose you to the real world, they are not helping you. If they bring you down and hurt you (physically or emotionally or verbally), then you should not be with that person. You deserve better :).
The bad influential friend. Ok, we will meet someone that is just on the fringes of life and try to bring us down with them. They will both parts of the bad friend and the bad influence. Please, beware of these people. I think I met one to many :). Try to not get hurt, and we cannot give everyone a shadow of a doubt, I'm sorry.
There is no distinct way to tell the difference, but trust yourself. You know what is right and wrong. You know better than I do. I have the worst sense of judgement. I always pick the ones that seem broken because I want to help pick up the pieces. When I do that, only some people stick around, others go. Yes, be careful :).
With Love,
Violet Sar Bleu
P.S. Again, if anything is offending, I will send an apology. :)
