1. Bandeau Bra
Spring means cheerful clothing and longer days, but it also means humid and hot weather, especially in the southern part of the United States. So, when layering clothing, we all want to wear as little as possible in order to combat the heat, which means ditching our camisoles and tank tops. Bandeau bras provide the same amount of coverage, but without the bulk.
A typical spring weekend day outfit for me will be a bandeau bra, with a loose tank top, and some cutoffs. It is a very simple and comfortable outfit that can be reformed in order to fit your style preference. I am a very casual person, so I tend not to pair any accesories with this, and sometimes just walk barefoot.
2. Sundress
For those days that are extremely hot and I do not know what to wear, I grab a sundress. It is easy, simple, and perfect for those hot spring days. I tend not to wear those that are formfitting because those are just uncomfortable. I usually wear those are a bit loose on my body.
Sometimes, I wake up and have no clue what to wear to go to school. So, on those days, I grab a sundress, put on simple white tennis shoes, braid my hair, and grab a sweater, and call it a day. Of course, my school has a dress code and turn up the A/C on high, so I wear a loose sweater over my sundress, and later on, when I am on the bus, and the tempertures go on an all time high, I take off my sweater, and try to beat the heat.
3. Semi-Sheer and Loose Tops
I find that anything semi-sheer or loose or both tends to be better in the heat. For instance, I rather be in a semi-sheer loose long sleeve shirt than a solid tight tank top. It is more about fit than actual cut of the top.
Sometimes, I want to cover my arms, and when I do, I grab a semi -sheer loose top and pair it with loose palazzo pants. Do not be fooled by these pants, since they are actually very light-weight and comfortable. Finally, I put on my rope sandals and head out the door.
4. Shorts
This is an obvious one. Shorts are very easy to wear, and I just like the functional part of them, since they are able to fit into any occasion we have planned.
I am probably the most casual dresser you will ever meet because I am not that kind of person that takes time to plan out my accesories and shoes, etc. But, I do have my preferences. For my shorts, I like them to be either out of cotton, linen, or with denim, distressed. Those to me are the most comfortable pair of shorts, and I usually just wear a t-shirt with them.
5. Crop Tops
You all are probably thinking that crop tops are very scandalous. But, I believe that if you wear them right, it will look good. Crop tops are different than regular tops, other than that they shorter, but also they are more comfortable in the heat. I usually buy the looser or more boxy cut ones because they tend to be more comfortable for me.
My red TOMS are getting worn out right now. From all of the clay dust and walking and shaving down the sole in order to get the right fit, they are getting a true beating, but I love them. I have sewn in two places where the holes used to be, but I really need new ones. I paired this awesome Harry Potter crop top with comfortable black culotte shorts. Black culotte shorts have a looser fit, but are just as flattering.
So this list is the list of of my spring time clothing essentials. Pretty much clothing items in which I wear nonstop because I find them comfortable and they can beat the heat.
I want to know what are your spring time clothing essentials. Leave them in the comment below.
With love,
Violet Sar Bleu
