My Younger Years

The reason why I did not put childhood is because I am still living it. Anyway, I am in my teens, so I would like to show you what I lived through in my younger years.

The music I love(d):
- The All-American Rejects: I absolutely loved them and still love them along with Blink-182, Linkin Park, Metallica, and Jimmy Eat World, but I grew out of my Greenday times :). Yes, I loved that scene and atmosphere, but I love Fleet Foxes, Whitley, Mumford & Sons, Years Around the Suns, and Paper kites. I have toned and chilled about a bit.

The clothing I wore:
-Colored Cords: My mom was born in the 70s, so she had a lot of that stuff, and I loved wearing them. I still do, but I wear them in moderation. These were like my everyday t-shirts, I could not live without them.
-Boots: I wore combat boots, faux fur boots, sweater boots, any boot there was, I wore them. I had at least 10 pairs. Now, I only have 5, which are my combat boots, heeled boots, knee high boots, ugly Uggs (I only wear these at home or lounging), and military boots.
-Mini-skirts: I had an extensive collection of skirts. I had around 30, and I loved them. Now, I wear maxi and midi skirts, and occasionally a mini.
-Collared shirts: I now hate collared shirts, but I used to love them. They emphasized my shoulders which were my best feature, now, I like my legs.
My style then: I wore crazy colors, and I always kept my hair neat. I did not play around with textures or monochromatic hues because they emphasized my skinny frame.
My style now: I like to keep everything undone, and I do not like my hair neat because my bone structure is strong. I rarely wear colors other than yellow, blue, and purple, and like to stick the
neutrals. Why, times have changed?

My image:
Then: I had pin straight, black, long, and layered hair, bright skin around the eyes, slightly tanned skin, and no flush in my cheeks. I looked almost like an innocent doll, lifeless yet sweet.
Now: I have straight, layered, messy, dark brown, long hair. It is lighter now because I spend a lot of time in the sun. I have slightly dark circles, bright and pale skin (I use sunblock everyday), and slight pink in my cheeks. I look like a tired looking, undone, but healthy girl.

Hobbies:
Then: Dancing, Acting, Painting, Drawing, Watching Gilmore Girls and Drake and Josh, Collecting Beanie Babies, Legos
Now: Dancing, Reading, Watching horror and old films, blogging

My influences:
Now: Twiggy, Isadora Duncan, Morrisey, The Smiths, J.D. Salinger, Stephen Chbosky, Years Around the Sun, Paper Kites (band), All American Rejects, Boy and Bear, Vetiver, Taylor Steele's Castles in the Sky
Then: Mom, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Twiggy

Similarities with myself then and today:
I tend to be more comfort driven with the way I dress. Most of the music I actually loved and was not forced to love, I still listen to it. Christmas is the worst holiday to me, and I never liked it for some weird reason. Anyway, I grew up since then, and I am glad I did.

Differences with myself then and today:
I was ver optimistic, but gradually, I become more sarcastic. I never wore neutrals since I thought everything was better in color. Neatness was a huge deal, but my hair can look like a mess for all I can care. I looked very editorial and dramatic, but now I consider myself a plain Jane?

Do you believe you are the same person you were as a child? Did you change? How? Was it dramatic? Was the process gruesome? Did people disapprove of it?

With love, (I usually forget a comma there)

Questions to Society Part 2

The ranting has ended for a while, which was probably caused by PMS (sorry for using that as excuse ,but true). However, I still have some questions for you to answer, so here I go. By the way, these questions are not to make fun of society, but to get in insight. I was never the social butterfly growing up, nor I am now.

1. Why is it easy for people to make big decisions but hard to make small decisions?
Ex. It is easier for a girl to choose which college to go to, but not what to wear every morning.

2. Why do people dress nice even though we always say that it was it is in the inside that counts?
I know the dress to impress things, but I do not get why it should be included into every situation. If I want to live life, I will like to live life comfortably.

3. What happened to communication?
I think nowadays people act too strongly and quickly in response to something they do not like. Ex. Riots, War, etc.

4. Why are there so many rules in the English language?
Commas, they are disturbing. It may sound silly, but I am not a native speaker.

5. What happened to living life simply?
All you need is a place to stay, food on the table, water, and company. I used to stay in this apartment where the television would not work nor did the electronics, and we were situated near the sea. We had enough food on the table to have us over for each day, and there was no extra money being able to get spent. I was happy. Life was simple. Now, I have everything I could ever want, and I am unhappy.

6. Where is all the meaningful music?
Sex, girls, drugs, can't they talk about anything other than that? I love Austin's radio stations, but I cannot drive 2 hours in order to get a nice set of radio stations. Houston only has one radio station that I like. One out of 12. This is getting ridiculous.

7. Why is ignorance getting confused with honesty? Why is honesty looked as rude?
I do not think a comment is needed to explain.

8. Why is love confused with the evils of lust and infatuation?
Again, no comment needed.

9. Why is there a certain look in order to be considered "cool"?
I do not where jeans often (especially skinny jeans) often because they are uncomfortable and prefer to wear dresses, pants, and skirts. Now, I am labeled "weird girl", also having a twin does not help out with the situation.

10. Hypocrisy
Again no comment needed, but everyone is guilty of this (including me).

Please provide me with some answers. I am a confused, unsocial, pessimistic, sarcastic person. You can comment or send them to my colleague's email that I have posted in previous posts.

With Love

P.S. Listen to Frank O'Hara's recitation of his poem Having a Coke with You, it is like you are dreaming. While you are at it, listen to Greg Holden's Serendipity.

Questions to Society Part 1

Ok, I think for now, my ranting has ended, but I still hold some questions to some of you. I do not understand why people do those things, so if you can answer any of these questions I have below, please answer them for me. These questions are not your stereotypical one answer questions, but open ended. Please answer, so that I can finally understand.

1. Why is it easier to forgive a kid now then it was 5-10 years ago?
Reason I ask: I used to get in trouble for the smallest things (ex. making a smudge on a window, sleeping late, etc.), but now, when I see my younger relative do the things I get in trouble for, they do not recieve consequences.

2. Why do people care when a Caucasian man/woman kill someone of color, but not when a person of color kills a caucasian man/woman?
Reason I ask: Please do not say that this is not true when it is. I thought people were people, and we are all equal. What makes the difference?

3. Why do some cancers recieve more attention to others?
Reason I ask: Cancer is cancer; many people die from it. I know the differences between the life rates, but cancer kills people.

4. Why do antisocial people are considered weird or odd?
Reason I ask: There are some people in this world that like to be alone, myself included. What does that have to do with our weirdness? Why are social people are not considered weird?

5. Why do people pretend to be nice to people that they dislike/hate?
Reason I ask: It is dishonest to me. It is fake. I know the saying of being polite is well and good, but I just do not get it.

6. Why do people complain about their work and still do it?
Reason I ask: Do what you love. If you do not like it, quit. Why hold on to something that you do not like? I know that you need to pay rent, but if you hate it so much, drop everything and be free.

7. Why do people change?
Reason I ask: I lost so many friends because they change in order to become someone else. It feels as though it was my fault in the first place to cause them to act as so. I do not know.

8. Why do people think that if I have no destination that I am lost?
Reason I ask: My family thinks that I am lost and that I do not where I am going. It is true. I have no destination where I want to be. I am not lost though.

9. Why do people try to please everyone?
Reason I ask: There is no such thing as "one size fits all". Perfection and beauty are in the eyes of the beholder.

10. Why people believe that all women must be Barbie and all men must be Ken?
These names come from famous dolls by Mattel. They are made of plastic. Humans are not plastic, so why do people believe we must be like them or look like them?

That is all the questions I have for today. Again, please answer them for me because I seriously do not know. Remember, these are open ended, and there is no such thing as a wrong answer. If you are a bit shy, just send it to my colleague's email I have posted in other posts. Share me your opinion.

With Love,
Violet Sar Bleu

P.S. Perfection is overrated.

P.S.S. If  you have any other questions to ask, send them to my colleague's email or comment :).

Ranting: Part 2

Sorry, I lied. I still have some steam to out. Again, apologies to those who are offended by it. By the way, these things are not directed to any one person. It is just pretty much society :). Hopefully, you find this relatable and not insulting.

1. People laughing at something that is not even funny: This happens at school alot. People will just laugh at anything, and I am sitting there, the only person not laughing, looking like an idiot. Then, I am considered rude for not laughing. Why would I laugh at something that is not even supposed to be funny or taken as a joke.

2. People who text you or call you like mad when you have not answered right away: I am probably the worst person to text or call because I just do not like to use my phone. Sometimes, I will check my phone once or twice a day, and there will be a person that will send me 100 (exaggeration) text messages or voice messages because I did not pick up my phone right away. Do not worry, I will answer back to you. Calm down.

3. People who overthink everything: There are some people who will overthink an action or what another person said. Stop overthinking because it takes too much work out of your brain. It is not good for you either. Calm down, take it slow.

4. People who are obnoxiously loud: No one wants to hear a private phone conversation. It is not polite. You are in public. Do not do that.

5. People who judge before actually talking to a person: I have a friend who everyone thinks is crazy because of one incident at school. She is actually a very nice person, talk to her, then you can judge her however you want. This happens to me a lot too. People think that I am rude and think that I am too cool for school. I just do not talk, shocking :o (sarcasm). Wow, there are really some people who do not want their personal life at school :o (sarcasm)?

6. People who wear overly revealing clothing: No one wants to see your naval, your stomach, half of your breast falling out, nor the edge of your bum. Wear things that do not make people talk. Is it really that hard to cover yourself with clothing?

7. People who dress inapprotiately: It can be seasonally. I will see some girls that would wear shorts when it is 0 degrees out. Then they come into school freezing. I think it is funny because you make fun of my clothes for not showing any skin, and I am warm and comfortable. It can be the occasion too. Do not wear sweatpants or jeans to wedding, do not wear heels to a concert (your feet will die), and do not wear a club dress to church.

8. Singers who write about songs that are bluntly directed to their ex and say that to the public: This humilates the ex. You do not look cool; you look crazy, mean, and inconsiderate. That person did not dump you in front of the whole world, but you feel you have the need to humilate him/her in front of everyone. This not only affects him/her, but also everyone that surrounds them. No one will want to date you because they know if there is a breakup (even though it may be your fault), they know that you will say something bad about them in front of the whole world. Then, you let people feel bad for you? Yeah, your ex dumps you, and you make 100 million dollares, totally fair (sarcasm at the last part).

9. People who take everything I say literally: Sometimes, I have my bad days. I am human. I make mistakes. If you take something I say to heart, sorry, my bad. But the thing is, I am only one person. Why should that make a difference.

10: People who stare at me whenever I do something wrong: Sorry, I am human. I can be wrong. I make mistakes. Call the cops on me for that. I cannot be perfect. By the way, I like my imperfections, deal with them.

11. People who rush me when they are not even almost done yet: Excuse me, but why should you have more time than me? Remember, I am equal to you whether you like it or not. I get ready however I want to get ready. My aunt do this to me too many times. She will be in her robe telling me to hurry up. I get rushed, I am done, and she is still in her robe, not even having her dress on yet. Seriously, I could've have an extra 15 minutes.

12. Celebrities who are famous for no reason: A person should only be famed when they do something that is life-changing or revolutionary or influential, not because their parents are famous. That is stupid to me. Why are famous if you did do anything good to society or at least be infamously known for politics?

13. People who cannot carry on a conversation: This is annoying, especially when they are starting the conversation.

14. Homophobic people: If you have a problem with gay people or bisexual people, what is wrong with you? You do not let them love whoever they want to love. That is wrong. Love should not be a priviledge to heterosexual people. So what they found love in  a nontraditional way? It just shows that they are queer. By the way, you do not have to be homosexual or bisexual or etc. to support it, I am heterosexual and all for it. If I can, I will just become a lesbian just to scare homophobic people. You do not even have to like it, just accept it.

15. Discouragement: If someone tells me what not to do or what I cannot do, I will try to prove them wrong or make them angry. Just do not do it unless it is for my own good.

Anyway, I am not actually a hateful person, but I do call myself bitter and have a dry/sarcastic humor. I apologize if this offends. If it does, just comment and I will send you an apology. If you do not want to comment, use my colleague's email lillianjuly24@aol.com and email her and I will send you an apology. Remember, this is not directed to person in general, so please do not take it to heart.

Do you have anger? What are your pet peeves? Are they similiar to mine?

With Love,

VioletSarBleu

P.S. Thank you for your support. We accept the love we think we deserve.

Things I tend to able to rant about for hours

Ranting: I apologize if any of this offends you. I just need to blow off some steam. If I do not, I will go crazy.

School Related: From the teachers, the students, the bus, the school itself, the hallway, it gets frustrating. I know people say that it builds character, but whenever I go to school, I feel as though I am more bitter than I was before. Back then, I could have really care less if someone gives me a little insult. But now, I just feel as though I can just go nuts and blow off steam.

1. People who walk slow in the hallway or stand in pacts: It is so inconvient to just stand in the hallway or walk so slow. Moving is not that hard. If you stand there like a bump on a log, I will get mad. You are standing there, wasting space. Just go to class, you can stand after class.

2. People who do not listen and blame their teacher for failing: There is a reason why your teacher as a degree, and you do not. Teachers teach. If you fail, it is not their fault. Listen, it will save you so much. Keep quiet, pay attention, and it will save us alot.

3. People in the bus who are way too loud: You can talk to your friends and what not, I do not mind. But when you are shouting across the bus, that ticks me off. There is a reason why I put earbuds in my ear; I do not want to hear your voice. And there are some people who will take out my earbuds, I just do not like that.

4. Kids who brag about their money: I do not mind rich people. Some are really nice, but there are some people who thinks they are better than everyone else because they wear Ed Hardy or Giorgio Armani to school on a regular basis and drive a BMW. That does not make you a better person than I am. I know that I am average. Who cares what you got for your birthday? Some people are just asking to get mobbed.

5. People who disrespect others for no reason: I hate these people. Doesn't mean that you play football or baseball does not mean that you can act like you rule the school. You are just another student. You are equal to me and everyone else.

6. Freeloaders: In a group project, homework "help", there is always someone who does nothing and take credit. I do not like that. It makes you look bad, don't do it. Trust me, freeloading takes more effort than actually doing your work.

General Society Things

1. Girls who wear too much makeup: Girls, you can wear makeup, just do not cake on all of your makeup in your makeup drawer. Makeup is to enhance your natural beauty, not cover it up. What if you get married one day? You have to wake up with your makeup free face and your husband has to see that. What are you going to do? Wear makeup to sleep? That would be so bad for your skin.

2. People who assume that people are prejudice towards them even though they are not: You know, those people who are overly sensitive and then blame prejudice for their problems. Example: A guy decided to throw all of his clothing onto the counter while I was checking out my stuff. I said, "Excuse me, but I need to pay my clothes." He scoffed and expected for the cashier to get him checked out. I said, "Look, I know you may be in a hurry but show some consideration." He replied, "Are you just saying because I am black?" Ok, don't throw the prejudice card at me. Don't go assuming what I believe and what do not believe. That is rude. I answered, "Are you just saying that because I am (whatever race)?" He just shut up.

3. People who are rude to the waiter/waitress: He or she works for tips. They should not have to put up with your rudeness. And do not complain to the manager that the waiter/waitress did not do a good job when you did not ask them to do things for you. Not only is this rude and inconsiderate, but the waiter/waitress has to deal with the manager now. That is worse than putting up with you.

4. Overly religious people: I am religiously tolerate, but sometimes people get to worked up over it. Especially Christians. Christians, I love your Christ. Christ, I do not like your Christians. I am a Christian myself, but doesn't mean you are a Christian does not mean you have to refer to Judas or Jesus or Mary or whatever everytime I say something wrong. Really, are you serious? It aggravates me. You can be religious all you want, but when you speak to about your religion every minute, it gets annoying.

5. People who pick out every flaw I have: I know that I am not perfect. That does not mean that you can pick out my dark circles, my bags under my eyes, etc. You are not perfect either, so do not judge every single little detail about my appearance unless you are trying to help me.

6. People who ask for your opinion and get mad at you for saying the "wrong thing": When someone asks about my opinion, I will be honest, but not rude. And if they do not like what I say, I am sorry for not lying. You can never say anything wrong if it is opinionated, there is no such thing as a wrong opinion.

7. The idea that if a girl has one blemish on her face, it makes her unattractive, and a guy can still be attractive if he looks like a pizza face: I know that is mean to say, but it is unfair. What, do you expect us girls to look like Barbie? If you have yet to notice, Barbie is plastic. I am not plastic; I am human. Sorry that I have a little zit on my chin because I was stressed out.

8. Wannabe Hipsters: I am not a hipster. I live a sort of normal life and have to listen to Seattle radio in order to hear songs that are not annoying and somewhat decent. I like bands such as Mumford and Sons, Boy and Bear, Years Around the Sun, Learning Music, Fleet Foxes, Vetiver, and Paper Kites. I also like one person acts such as Youth Lagoon. That does not make me a hipster. I talked to this guy the other day, and he was bragging of how he saw a Fleet Foxes concert right? I love the Fleet Foxes and asked him about it. When I started talking, he could not carry the conversation except for how he is so over wearing brand names. I do not care; you are a poser. Hipster, everyone has their own little definitions. I think a hipster is just a primate specie that is different from homo sapiens who enjoy different things. They can be quirky dressers to wearing all black.

9. People who try to hard to act cute: That is annoying, not cute. It makes you look desperate for attention. If you have to try to make people around you like you, you are not with the right people.

10. Sucicide is considered Brave?: Someone kills themselves, and they are considered brave? I know there are some people who have thought about sucicide and I sympthazied them. But killing yourself is not brave. It is a permanament solution to a temporary problem.

11. Parents who are rude to their kids: If you ever wonder why your kid is acting so bad, check out the way you treat them. I hate it. That is your kid for crying out loud. If you do not love them, give it to someone who will.

12. Kids who are rude to their parents: If you ever wonder why your parents are mean to you, check out your behavior. That is rude, not cool. Your parents brought you into this world, and they can put you out. Remember that.

I think I finally got all of the anger out of system. I apologize if this insults or offends you in any way. Remember, I am only one person, I am not big as an influence. I am sure that some of you know what I am talking about. Please, do not send hate comments, mail, etc.. I do not care for them.

What pushes your buttons? Do you have pet peeves? Are your rant topics similiar to mine?

With Love,

VioletSarBleu

P.S. We accept the love, we think we deserve.

P.S.S. I do not care for hate mail.

Dos and Don'ts of Pas De Deux Dancing

I know that I promised to do a series of advice posts, but I cannot help to touch on this subject as well. In pas de deux (literal translation: step for two), it is where a person dance with a partner. This is a list/guide/advice post for pas de deux.

Dos:

Trust Your Partner: Men and ladies alike, please trust your partner. Trust is the most important thing in a relationship, including this one. From experience, I know when my partner does not trust me, and he knows when I do not trust him. Not only does this save a lot of falls, injuries, etc., but also hesitation. Hesitation leads to differences in time. Please, be faithful with your partner. He will not let you fall, and she will not make you carry her weight.

Please hold your core (ladies): It does not matter how much you weigh, but my last partners have told me that if I hold my center, it is easier to lift me. Take it like this, it is easier to carry an alive person then a dead person since an alive person is aware and holds their own weight. If we do not hold our center, our partners will be carrying "dead" weight.

Communicate: You would not believe how many falls I have experience because my partner and I did not have good communication. If you communicate with your partner, you know exactly how it is going to happen. I wish I knew this before I took a pas de deux class.

Confidence in yourself: Have confidence in yourself, but do not be arrogant. If you are confident and sure of yourself, you are less likely to wobble. The less you wobble, the easier it is on your partner. Girls, if your partner drops you, it is not their fault. Boys, if your partner falls, it is not entirely your and hers fault. It is both of yours. Compromise :).

Tell your partner what they can improve in: If you do not tell, the teacher will, and I hate to get a scolding from a teacher. If you tell your partner, they will know what to fix.

Take advice from your partner: This will make you a better dancer, and hopefully, next time it would run much more smoothly.

Know your partner: My teacher had an assignment where we had to hang out with each other for a day. Not only does this creates new friends (and hopefully not enemies), but it breaks the ice and relaxes both of you. Knowing your partner and how they work makes it easier on you, and your partner is not a random person.

Make eye contact: During pas de deux, you do not actually talk, but you can see if he or she is struggling or not. Plus, on stage you are going to have to do it anyway, so practice now.

Don'ts:

Blame your partner for the entire mistake: It is a partnership, not a servant and master relationship. In doing so, you are disrespecting your partner, making the relationship more unsteadily.

Wearing strappy, low back, slippery leotards (ladies): His hands are already sweaty, why make the situation worse. The last thing you want is for his hands to get caught into your leotard, slip from your body during a lift, or touch somewhere skin is exposed that is less than comfortable.

Coming unprepared: Please, no dead pointe shoes or running tights. It will just make everything more difficult and causes more work on your partner.

Making your partner do all of the work (ladies, sometimes men): Ladies, with the exception of press lifts, please, it will be so much easier if you will jump into a lift. It takes a lot for him to get you into the air, and if you jump, some of the work is already done. It is a partnership.

Wearing anything loose: Loose pants, shirts, etc. will end up flinging into his face during pirouettes. For men, it is better since you can see your lines and she will less likely to slow down during pirouettes because she keeps hitting your shirt.

Not keeping the relationship professional during class: No one wants PDA or horseplaying. We can do that all we want outside of class, but during, you should keep in professional. I have never seeked a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship with my partners since I saw them more like friends. I have seen some people do it, but when they break up, the relationship in class is awkward.

All in all, respect and be kind to your partner, he or she is just as nervous as you are. Anyway, these things I just learned from experience and wished someone told me these things before. Of course, in every pas de deux relationship, it is not always the same, they have their own quirks. Dancing with different people causes you to have a different experience. Happy dancing!
